Today is National Oatmeal Day!
In celebration, I had “breakfast for lunch” and made a bowl of a sort of harvest protein oatmeal with pumpkin, egg white, whey and spices, topped with dried cranberries, pistachios, sunflower seeds, crushed walnuts and pumpkin spice almonds.
POM Wonderful’s new juice blends caught my eye in the market the other day, and because I am obsessed with POM, I didn’t think twice about paying $3 for a tiny bottle.
At this point, I’ve tried all three, and would highly recommend the POM Coconut (“the sporty one” as they call it, I’m assuming for its hydrating powers). The POM Hula (pineapple) and Mango (mango, duh) are good, but a little too sweet for my liking.
Some food porn for your Friday: special birthday cupcakes for my good friend!
Looking for an easy but impressive Super Bowl snack? For our game day feast last year, I made about 10 different things. (I got a little carried away because the Giants were playing in — and subsequently winning — the big game.) One of my favorites I cranked out were these chocolate-covered strawberry “footballs.” Simply dip in melted chocolate, set on parchment paper, wait until the chocolate has dried and line with melted white chocolate or decorative icing.
Here’s my setup at Philabundance’s Cupcake Smash 2012 in Philadelphia. Fruit Loop cupcake with Loopy Vodka buttercream frosting. I won People’s Choice! More details coming soon. Thanks to all who came out to “beet” hunger!
